    YOUR NAME

    After the rain,

    the temperature's fallin'

I can hear, your body callin'

saying to me, D'ee can we make love

    A passionate embrace,

    suspended animation,

are you here, or is it just my imagination,

saying to me, is she truly real

And time after time, these steps to heaven I've climbed,

only to be guilty of the crime, of believing in the sublime,

when in actuality reality is intertwined, and pain is inclined,

to combine with tears and cries of shame,

And a heart once aflame, was too many times defamed,

so I cannot exclaim, when in my mind are frame after frame,

of the same old same, with no one left to blame,

I'm so tired of the game, so ready to proclaim,

that your name is a permanent fixture in my heart,

never to be, never to see, you and D'ee apart

    Belmont Plateau,

    quiet whispers,

thinking to myself, how can I resist her,

when her body is calling to me,

it's time that we make love

    A quiet storm,

    after a topaz morning,

quietly as it's kept, my heart is warming,

I keep saying to myself, is she a fantasy,

    is she truly real?

And so many tears we've cried, when romance went awry,

still we kept our heads to the sky, never believing in gossip implied,

quite willing to apply the lessons of another heart that replies

in kind, can't get you out of my mind,

perfect combination combined, can I press rewind,

to replay our first kiss, signed, sealed and delivered

    by God the Mastermind,

a stream of poetic lines, where once I was blind, now I see,

that your name is a permanent fixture in my heart,

never to be, never to see, you and D'ee apart

    Such a beautiful ebony princess,

    I could never imagine,

here I am sitting in a restaurant,

    scribbling on paper napkins,

wondering if the time is right,

for you and I to finally make love

    On my knees in prayer,

    every morning and every night,

hoping and waiting for the world to change,

or at least for some of us to unite,

God smiles and says to me,

"I know you're wondering if she is truly real

And the weather is so rare, rain not falling individually, but in pairs,

can I now declare, that you're the answer to my prayers,

so do I take the dare, and become ensnared, in your love, love, love,

if all in love is fair, in my darkness you're a flare,

lighting the night, and keeping me on the right path,

and every paragraph, is a plea to God for our love to last,

I feel deep down the cup of pain has passed me over,

baby, how can any woman hope to surpass, a woman perfectly cast,

to star in my dream of dreams, for now it seems

that your name is a permanent fixture in my heart,

never to be, never to see, you and D'ee apart
