    THE VERDICT

    Dear Leonitis,
had I naught draught(drawn)upon your companionship
    would tis have occured?
    Ahhh...but the ale we consumed
thought bitter can not measure to the
    bitter pill I now swallow
As lads in His Majesty's Armed Force
my Darling fere(friend) we capitulated to the fears
of innocence being consumed by the thresher
    Alas,
across the scorched Fields of Albermarle
did not also our adversaries quake?
    Oh.
how we dreamt of soft bosoms and willing lips
    the trepidation in our strides
failing to disguise the uncontaminated purity
    of our loins
    the Veterans snickering chortles
rising above the dry twigs and branches
    alight in the Gloaming
I wonder now if our Brotherhood
    survived unscathed as our
war torn bodies arrived at Port Ambler

    Dear Leonitis,
    even beyond tears I cannot
comprehend the ache within my soul
to have known you as the Brother
I never had but Blessed still with
    the endowment of your companionship
never longng for a sibling whom could
    compare
    and now
    Here we are
    You my accusor
    I the foil
My Verdict rendered not in sequestration
but in the Court of Damned Folly
    that is public opinion!
and what have I done to deserve such fate?
Did I, in a dreamscape, besmirch your Family Crest?
Did I, in a drunken stupor, curse your Lovely Maiden?
Did I spit upon the grave markers
of your Devoted Mother and Faithful Father?
    Tell me Brother
what have I done to deserve such harshness
that even reprieve from the Spirits
    cannot erase

    The People have Spoken
and you are mute my Brother
    The authorities have questioned
    and you remain deaf
    The evidence gathered
and you are blind to my plight

    Dear Friend,
    what of my Family Honor
    shall remain fullsome(rich)?
    Hath no equation for treachery
    not been notated by thee?!?

    Henceforth(from now on)
I shall be known as The Liar
though my lips hath not ONCE
    spoketh treason and slander
    Alas,
It can not be envy for you
tower above me in many way
    What then was your reason?

    A quarrelsome Mistress perhaps?
A bad night at game and chance?
I am betwixt(between) the Gallows and Gore
what say you Brother to my Hopeless Phight?
Know that had I been aware of your
evil intent I would have, without reservation,
    thrown myself into the mere(lake)!
    rather than face my accuser
    with features uncannily similar
to the Brother I love dearly

    Onuppan(above) Naught(nothing)
    Our Creed remember?
    WE STAND ABOVE NOTHING
FOR WE ARE EQUAL IN DEVOTION
    TO OUR BROTHERHOOD

Such a tragicomedy those words seem now
    Prithee(Pray thee) never witness
such fouling of the Well of Trust!!!
    Nary(absolutely nothing ) a tear you have
shed for the life you now confine
    to the darkness of Death
    Tell me Brother,
to which Demon hath you syllan(sell) you soul?
    and did you tarry(deliberate)?

    Look
    thither(there) is the Adjudicator
    Oh Dear Leonitis!
    WHAT HATH YOU WROUGHT!!!!

    Yore(years ago) we bled
    We cried
    We sacrificed
For the Common and Uncommon Good
    For God
    For Country
    FOR US!
    and now,
it appears I shall be the sole sacricfice
    and,
    for what purpose friend
If you deemed it so significant
    to shand alone without peer
    I would have glady bent
    so my back be used
    to elevate your station

    Alas,
I, as a man and Warrior, accept Fate
what I, and my dying spirit
cannot accept is my Fate being
    sealed by a man
    whom I once looked upon
    as a Brother Heaven Scent
    yet,
    I fear NOT
    Dear friend
for you Fate shall one day await
    may you handle it then
    with the selfsame haughtiness
    you now display

    Farewell
