    THE LAST LOVE SONG

    Love_song

    Tell me

    is your love contracting

    retracting

    from a lack of use

    were you truly acting

a leading actress on too many rainy nights

and much too much dry vermouth

    Tales of love abound

in the recesses of forgotten minds

yet when the stars neglect to align

    the combined

    confessions

    or our shared affection

leave us love struck and colorblind

    no colors to discern

    lust being a short term

    answer to angels dancing

    in the grottos

    of ghetto avenues

    to mixed reviews

    Tell me

    did you really mean it

when you said I was the one

    or was I a gluton

    for the religion

    of a poisoned

    perversity

    was your interest in me

    strictly

    confidential

    non essential

in the large scheme of things

    Tales of our woe abound

    differing in delivery

    from mouth to mouth

    what can our love

    truly be about

if it doesn't have the clout

    to silence our doubts

    baby

    do I have to rediscover

the man in me who once hovered

    above our reality

are you and I truly meant to be

    or should our intensity

     have been delayed

    until

the last love song was played

    Tell me

    do you think of me

when waking to begin your day

or does my image bounce and sway

    on a ray

    of sunlight obscured by clouds

    are you still proud

    to be my baby-boo

    do you replay

    the passionate love we made

    or a love forbade

    the demons we slayed

    or the nights we prayed

    the wilted bouquet

    or the cost we defrayed

    to be hopelessly in love

    when push comes to shove

do you believe in what we portray

    or does our portriat belay

the cost of love we neglected to weigh

    say

    sweetly

    that you love me

    totally

    absolutely

and I will respond in kind

do we now lock into a love everlasting

    or remain fasting

intil the light of heaven penentrates

    the darkness of our minds

do we remain frozen in time

images of once upon a time

    now a crime

    scene

    reams upon reams

    of film documented

    augmented

    by our doubts

Tales of love lost in paradise

    sacrificed

    to the whims of chance

    our romance

    our rants

    our dance

    in Paris, France

    the wine

    the sunshine

    the April rain

    images forgotten in our minds

    lost to time

    caputred only in pain

    a trance

    a moondance

    that once enhanced

our love now broken by the shaman's spell

    maybe

    it's just as well

    Tell me

are you ready to walk away

    now our today

is on the precipice of a future sublime

    is the time

    in the hourglass

    at last

    out of rhythm

    lost in senseless rhyme

now your heart refuses to communicate

    with mine

    will we refuse to climb

    obstacles now

    in the prime

    of our love lives

    can we hope to survive

will we continue to be starved for love

    or revive

    our love long delayed

    pardon me

    mon cheri

I will wait for your confession of love everlasting

when the last love song has played
