tomorrow may have
time for two
but please dont misconstrue
all of my tomorrows
will be full of sorrow
without you
how can two lovers
learn to be friends
i guess it depends
if they can comprehend
various ways to make amends
when fickle fancies
come and go
the silly times people tend to outgrow
feelings once quite apropos
seem out of date
but if tomorrow
doesnt want to wait
maybe
just maybe we can equate
the tears we have shared
to the dictates
of time
and if two bodies
once intertwined
are now hesitant and rather disinclined
to hug
then with a shrug
we will bid today a sad adeiu
our love can be overdue
only if
tomorrow may have time for two
how can two lovers
passing this way and that
define a feeling
at best inexact
do we allow the facts
to get in the way of a perfect story
sunny sundays
mondays stormy
thinking of you all day long
but maybe
just maybe i will wave to you
when i pass the salon
maybe someday i will
write a song
to right my wrongs
or maybe never
after all
some endeavors
begin rather clever
but there is no instrument made
that can hope to measure
the pressure
of i love you forever
yet
in the end
if you and i stand a chance
and we are not foolish enough
to walk away from a fine romance
without nary a glance
what we shared today
the innocence
the naivete
will compel us to pray
that tomorrow may
find the time
for you and i
for
you
and
i
