Pond

Chaos in philly

a breakneck pace in Baton Rouge

come with me

my sister of the literary

to a place we can be mentally soothed

with your husbands blessing

we shall explore the muse

break away

from our day to day

allow our spirits 2 be infused

Trancendental meditation

ideal in situations

such as this

and stress

we will resist

ensconsed deep in natures midst

ideally our spiritual state

should go beyond the physical

observing the meaning of the supreme

when the breeze stirs a leaf

so empirical

Religious  doctrine

to this we do ascribe

yet though we do not share dna

forever you will be by my side

a sister and brother

a bond forged in harmony

the epitome

of what we see

in the hushed surroundings of serenity

On the shores of a lake

we will meditate

like thoreau

nature so alive at walden pond

everywhere we go

reading channing

hawthorne and emerson

stopping 2 praise the spirit

the father

the son

and as we rise from our prayer

as family we are one

No one can truly predict

the road 2 shall meet upon

now with the muse we abscond

blessed by the spirits at walden pond

Nature an outward sign

of the innervision of man

no predictions

sans restriction

in full color the embodiment of the fathers plan

when all in my life was darkness

you lent a helping hand

now i thank you from my heart

on the shores of concord sand

A correspondence with the visual

so visible

are our thoughts

indvisible

cant be bought

the devil tempts for naught

cogitating on civil disobedience

and the demise of the ecology

a chior of birds sing

as you hum mercy mercy me

So much in this dishonest life

is bound to be misconstrued

but when i write

this much is true

forever you will be my sister bound by the muse

tourists stop and smile

wondering what we will pen

the last time they saw us

we threw caution to the wind

in the lush meadows andean

Insight and intuition

have brought us together it seems

such a sight

2 be seen

brotherly love and sisterly affection

as we transcribe reams

all good things must come to an end

till the next time we meet my faithful friend

always and forever

on you i shall depend

when

people stop and ask me

dee why does your spirit seem so soothed

i smile and whisper  gently

it is due 2

my devine sister in Baton Rouge

No one can truly predict

the road 2 shall meet upon

now with the muse we abscond

blessed by the spirits at walden pond

Dee

Here I sit

content

surrounded I am by those who know

THE MAN I AM

and accept me for the

beautiful

fractured

faulty

Dee-fiant proud Black man

I have finally become

the smoke of my vanity tossed onto the bonfire

glows red like the envy of those who seek to be me

yet refuse to confront the reality

of their mypoic vision

with a gem gutter's precision

I have shaped my black diamond heart into a pendant

I wear with honor

with an assassin's 20/10 vision

I received permission to destroy the old D'ee

what I was

or rather,

what you claimed I chose to be

with an emancipator's descision

I have broken free of rusted chains

to reclaim

my name

and refocus my aim

free of derision and pain

and now finally I am surrounded by those who know

THE MAN I AM

No declaration of love is needed

for we noble few seeded

ghetto fields once barren and devoid of life

no wife

ex or current

no deterrent

can break our bond forged in the battles we have fought

and survived

so my brothers

continue to imbibe

while I scribe

writing with blood captured when my heart leaked

7 days prior

from a desire

to be a fool

participating in an atmosphere of sycophantic erotic worship

never has that been me

for long ago I was told real men make love

to real women in secrecy

and tell only tales of devotion

of unconditional love and emotion

remember those

who were resold into bondage

the names we blasted on tenament walls as a remembrance

rest in peace brave soldiers

you were much bolder

than I

your only fault was believing in those professed love for you

but never bled at your side

when the rising tide

of deciet

was within mere feet

of our fortress of solitude

so what am I to conclude

as I sit with those who know

THE MAN I AM

Ghetto years akin to dog years

I am not 45

I am 215 years old give or take a leap year

what have we witnessed my brothers

the destruction of bonds

the exile of trust

the taste of acrid dust

the bile of misplaced lust

the Utopian dream of Camelot fictitious

as the swords we thrust

into a fantastical illusion

and despite these untimely intrusions

we could never lie

not while looking into our eyes

not reaching for the sky

not when our souls asked why

and not even when collectively we received nothing but questions

and the only answer was

the repression

of our natural selection

to be kings

the finer things

I have never sought

I never allowed my worth to be bought

or bartered

a self-starter

I have been time after time

and here finally is my reward

as I find

myself surrounded by those who know

THE MAN I AM

Not in words

not in blurbs

not in blogs

not in love senitment etched in logs

but in my devotion

in my emotions

in sterotypical notions

I have dispelled

hear me know

did I not live to tell

not in wishing wells

not in a damsel's fainting spell

but in the lofty place I reside

in Black Pride

in truth I relied

when through falsehood and rumor many

men have died

desptie

the sweet words whispered by women

who defied

the calling of angels to unite

and now I fight

not with pen

not to upend

not to pretend

not to bend

nor break

nor ever forsake

who I am and the promise of what I can be

I AM THE D'EE

yes indeed

I ponder much as I sit surrounded by those

who know

THE MAN I AM

The music of our shared birthright

lingerts upon this night

the suspicion of those outside

remains outside of our sphere

as we shed happy tears

and recall the years

apart

our hearts

filled with joy

as we recount the journey of a man

from a boy

each and every man present facing death by choice

our palms moist

with anxiety

as we

remember details

that would render even the spirit's pale

and yet

we refused to fail

refused to consign our fates to any man or woman's

Holy Grail

and yes

still our dreams do sail

for we finally have a comprehensive plan

such is my thoughts as I sit surrounded  by those

who know

THE MAN I AM

They ask me

why 7 days prior did you not call

why did you choose to fall

alone

why not pick up the phone

why not roam

why did you not reach out to us brother

we heard your plaintive moans

but we know

you being the man you are

you willingly decided to spar

with the demon

but damn

you could have died

your brillaint mind could have been fried

your blessings could have been denied

dammit Brother D'ee

WHY!!!

I smile and respond quietly

because.....

I AM THE D'EE

and I knew instinctively

that my pain would have caused a malestrom of mayhem

to commence

you brothers know the Obeah blessed me

with a 6th sense

I am your brother

a man without pretense

densely

layered

I compare

to no man past, present or future

yes I admit my heart was bleeding

and I sutured

it on my own

and I have grown

to accept the dynamic force I represent

but without the time spent living

within the Hades

of my misery

I would not be here

at this very moment

surrounded by those who know

THE MAN I AM

A reluctant leader

I have always been

yet a friend I have been

in the end

my love and undying gratitude for the women I have met

such are my words of respect

for each and every one set

the bar higher

gave me goals to reach

and dreams to aspire

need I say

they inspired

me

to be D'ee

for I have confirmed some salutations

and outright denounced accusations

to secure my station

and pour libations

to the D'ee that once was

and hell yes

from this day forward refuse to be

for even those amongst me know not

the contant evading of shots

the mental rot

the boiling pot

the cauldron of discontent

that I refuse

and what did I have to use

as defense

for refusing to be sold out for sixpence

my mind

one shaped so formidably that it is illegal

in 50 states

a fate

only God can determine

a preternatual sense of vermin

who smile

and utter blaspemous betrayal

all the while

not knowing with guile

I file

away

the time, the place

the day

not for personal retribution

but for my absolution

have they despite their treason

put a halt to my elocution

my verbosity

speaks of a singular  and spectacular curiosity

listen to me

as I speak this truth

the uncooth

must live with the absolute proof

of my rebirth

the reverse of their curse

the brothers who were not brothers

shall never find another soul sibling

like me

the women who thought so bold

to obtain a copyright

upon my my soul

have been sued

I have fought hard to retain control

of my being

thus

the man you are seeing

is an amalagamation

an independent declaration

of freedom personified

and for this man to be free

the old D'ee

had to die

and THAT is why

on this  night

I sit amongst you my brethren

AM I NOT PROUD

AM I NOT BRILLIANT

AM I NOT DEDICATED

AM I NOT EMANCIPATED

THE WORLD HAD A FIRM GRASP

ON MY MANHOOD

AND I FOUGHT WITH FEROCITY

REFUSING TO BE CASTRATED

SO AM I NOT A SHINING EXAMPLE

THE EPITOME

OF WHO A BLACK MAN IS

AND WHAT A BLACK MAN SHOULD BE

YES

BY THE SPIRIT'S DECREE

I AM

AND FOREVER WILL BE

THE D'EE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOR

FINALLY I HAVE ASSUMED MY RIGHTFUL PLACE

AND HAVE BEEN CROWNED A KING AMONG A SELECT FEW

I HAVE BEEN CHOSEN

TO REPRESENT THE BLACK MALE ESTHETIC

AND HERE I SIT

WITH MY FAMILY

COMFORTED TO BE AMONGST THOSE

WHO TRULY KNOW

THE MAN I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mon, 07 Feb 2011 14:18:00 -0800 DEVINE MISS M. (4 MY SOUL BROTHER'S MOTHER) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/devine-miss-m-4-my-soul-brothers-mother http://dgreaves.posterous.com/devine-miss-m-4-my-soul-brothers-mother

Son

Close my eyes to say a silent prayer

Lord knows

I feel you here

in the kitchen as you prepare

chicken and fish fried golden tan

calling us to eat

while pouring the grease in separate cans

Never really had my daddy around

if you complained

I never heard a sound

you dedicated your life to us

taught always in God we should trust

The streets of Philadelphia

can get grimy

I admit

some of my friends were slimy

but you were a mother they wished they had

most of us grew up without dads

You raised us on pride and principles

told us life was never simple

but true family and friends

stand with you until the end

Lord knows when I heard the diagnosis

I felt like I was under hypnosis

I thought

how can God take away

a woman who never had a negative word to say

Always would see you reading Bible verses

would think

both of my sisters are nurses

the ultimate sign of love and respect

following in their momma's footsteps

Got so tired of seeing you in pain

I admit I cursed God at times

I'm not ashamed

it wasn't a sign of disrespect

I didn't want you to leave just yet

Seeing you sleeping

in the hospital

took me back to when I was little

and you would gently rub my head

when I fell asleep in your bed

You barely had the strength

to raise your hand

Lord knows even though

I'm a man

ain't no greater pain

than watching your best friend slowly drain

I would wipe the sweat

from your brow

think to myself

who will I go to now

all of my life I never had to think twice

always went to you

for sound advice

The last birthday party

we shared

that summer day I was so damn scared

please God give her enough strength

on this hot day to last the length

I remember when we pulled up

in the car

I said

momma look how loved you are

such a large turnout

of family and friends

I didn't know that was the last time

we would spend

celebrating your brithday

I don't know why

it has to be this way

why God takes the good away

happy birthday

we all sung

Dear God

my momma's 59 years young

You tried

to prepare us for the ending

I knew

Angels of Mercy God was sending

yet still

on that fateful day

from you I refused

to break away

I tell my friends

forget about them women you wine and dine

go to your momma's house

and spend quality time

parents won't always be around

and nothing can replace the sound

of your momma's voice

Life goes on

we don't have a choice

every time my eyes get moist

I let the tears fall

looking at your picture

on my wall

Never can I replace

the smell of fish frying

and the sweet aftertaste

but through my hurt and pain

I know to live is Christ

to die is gain

The funeral was so very nice

I know

though your body was there

your soul was in paradise

I Pray I have a long life to live

but a year of it I would gladly give

to hug you once again

sweet momma

my best friend

please send

an Angel of Mercy

to comfort me

to comfort me...

Devine Miss M.

this is D'ee speaking

one of your son's best friends

when I think of you

and the positive impact you had on my soul brother

I think of my mother

and I take a drive to her house

because I can't resist

giving her a kiss

once and a while she looks on surprised

rarely has she seen tears in her son's eyes

but there is one truth no one can deny

the love between a mother and her children

is beyond any love this cruel world has ever known

so Miss M.

though you have flown home

your spirit is still being felt down here

by your family

your friends

and myself

who through the wise words of your son

no matter how busy I am

I make the time

to feel my mother's hands in mine

thank you Maam

....that's it

can't write anymore

Soul Bro..Love U man

this is for you

peace

Light

His work permit expired

it was time 2 leave paradise

he took with him

an apple slice

and a cup of juice

he thought about the truce

he had made with the muse

and wondered if anyone on earth

could use

a man without words

separated from song

where do i belong

he asked 2 wordless skies

as a scroll of his

past sins and lies

were written in the clouds

once

he was so very proud

of the platitudes he received

now he was very much aware

of how much the snake deceives

he walked briskly

as the gates of heaven opened slowly

he bowed

2 the houses of the holy

sepulchre and thorny crown

nothing profound

no more great speeches left 2 recite

just an endless night

and a man without words

separated from his song

where did i go wrong

he asked the vastness of empty space

took a swig of juice

and savored the taste

he thought

how many men are blessed

2 even work a day in paradise

even when locked in

an inespacable vice

of a life

owned by the muse

maybe it was all a ruse

he thought cynically

and the only true friends

are those never meant 2 be

he was startled as he witnessed

jesus and the prophet muhammad

in a brotherly embrace

ah but he must chase

away the inspiration

4 upon being  sentenced

2 the guilt of eternal damnation

he must return 2 earth

4 eternity

and remain a man without words

forever

separated from his song

Wed, 02 Feb 2011 15:35:00 -0800 A LADY DEVINE (4 MY LOVE) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/a-lady-devine-4-my-love http://dgreaves.posterous.com/a-lady-devine-4-my-love

Male

She hears the careless whispers

when you're sleeping

no promise you're keeping

she does not hear

and she weeps 4 your heart when it is breaking

stops 2 dry her tears

in the Venusian atmosphere

Nature became her sacristy

the vestments of her nobility

are Sacredly stored

and when wine in poured

as homage 2 the Savior

earth savors

her aftertaste on the cusp of dawn

Heaven and earth move in Sacred places

traces

of her perfume

linger in the void of limitless space

the Father of the family

the 1st among all equals

has blessed you with a prequel

starring her as your bride

Mountains rise 2 praise her

the incoming tide is resltess

waiting 4 her to smile

and her child

the sun produces a solar storm

so her entry into your cosmos

will be warmed

Bioluminescence glows

so beautifully on the darkest night

as she takes you on a journey

across the sea

4 water reveals true love in its purity

of all that's past

and what shall be

The power within the force of nature

venerate her as Mana

the supernatural power of the stars

and as Mars

turns red with jealousy

she blesses you with

her passionate divinity

AND IN YOUR SOLITARY SILENCE

YOU WILL LISTEN

FOR SNOW MELT DRIPPING ON ICICLES

SOUNDING THE CHIME

AND THEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT YOU'RE WORTHY

2 BE LOVED EVERLASTING

BY A LADY DEVINE

She is known as Orenda of the Iriquois Nation

Manitou of the Algonquin

provided by the spirits all elements

are within her sweet embrace

and when you make love 2 her

you will perform slowly

4 such transcendental moments

cannot be in haste

She is known as Mulungu Imana

in tales of ancient Africa

the beautiful barakah of the Arab world

before Christ was born

deemed she was gypsy moon of sun and rainbows

ruler of all the land

before the continets were torn

And when the earth emerged out of chaos

she aligned the constellations

in perfect harmony

so men could one day aspire

to follow the nothern stars

leading 2 the birth of the Messiah

When Heaven was but God's animation

her sweet chorus illuminated the celestial bodies

lighting the Father's home

concepts of heavenly personification

from her spiritual essence

the first seeds of life were sown

As a numinous being

she sends lightning 2 scorch the barren plain

in the coming anticipation

of the soothing rains

and when Aurora Borealis

lights the Northern reaches of space

comets slow 2 greet her

before continuing their galaxial chase

Bathed in perfect melanin

her body in absolute proportion

her absorption

of the sun's rays

light her inner being

but dare not mistreat her

4 she is the First Daughter

of the Most Omnipotent One

the All Seeing

AND IN YOUR SOLITARY SILENCE

YOU WILL LISTEN

4 SNOW MELT DRIPPING ON ICICLES

SOUNDING THE CHIME

AND THEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT YOU'RE WORTHY

2 BE LOVED EVERLASTING

BY

A

LADY

DEVINE

Lovers

Wondering in my solitude

wandering

2 and fro

finding it hard 2 speak in absolutes

yet

what I feel is apropo.

Kissing the shadows

left by your spirit force

longing 4 the lovliness

of your erotic source.

Many times

I have been blinded

by the light from your intensity

I suppose

in the throes

of my dreams

it is you I gently enclose.

Simple words cannot convey

true and everlasting affection

when disparate worlds collide

I run 2 you

4 my souls protection.

Angels and Demons

play a gothic symphony

yet

with you

I am free

are you

my destiny.

Living

loving

lounging

in a pure stream of consciousness

I cant resist

our nightly tryst

though you remain

a shadow in the mist

when will you become

a reality

that i see

baby

I need your love

making love 2 me.

Pausing 2 examine

the contours of your sex

my tongue gently exploring

when your passion is totally wet

pleasing you and receiving nutriment

4 my soul

the angels sing

kiss her rose

and her soft wetness

will enclose

upon your love.

Care

What up fam..this is Brotha Dee with my alter ego Dizz

and we gonna flow into a real love joint..an undilluted..undisputed love..check it out

When you have a chest cold baby

I will wipe your runny nose

if you need me just holla lady

I will be in the bathroom

washin out your pantyhose

and your delicate underwear

I dont care

When you cant get outta bed baby

I will brush your teeth

and wash your pretty face

make some breakfast

brew the coffee

and sweeten it 2 your taste

we are a perfect pair

I dont care

When your ex was knockin on the door baby

we had a talk man 2 man

aint tryin 2 replace him as your childrens father

he wont be back no more

he understands

we both have the vacant ghetto stare

he knows

I dont care

When your body is racked with the flu baby

I will lead you 2 a warm bath

you aint just a sweet sentence lady

you are the punctuation in my paragraph

all in love is fair

I dont care

Dizz break it down...

Wind up and let me go

where I stop

my baby know

lady listen 2 my flow

I just want our thing 2 grow

you my capo di tutti capi

my mami

my mama san

rescued me

from philly saigon

the city is like radon

invisible death

2 many raids on

2 many brothas crackin up

2 many sistas shackin up

2 many thirsty

2 few cups

2 many crabs

2 get a leg up

Brotha dee

flow that love free..

When your job made you a surplus

your trust

in me was profound

worked so much overtime baby

many nights i was the last man around

but a black man dont rip and tear

I dont care

When my family questioned your motives

I told them if you cant accept her

yall aint down with me

after many miles

they peeped your style

now they are sharing the road 2 our destiny

your my city

I am your mayor

I dont care

When the sate was tryin 2 convict me

it was a case of mistaken identity

my lawyer told me

you swayed the judge and jury

with your heartfelt testimony

definition of ride or die

and you didnt lie

now that is why

you  are the ceo of my chair

and I am your man

I dont care

When your pregnancy ended prematurely

and we lost our baby

your first words were baby

sorry I let you down

even the doctor was cryin pretty lady

and that is why you wear  my crown

I would die 4 you

world you betta beware

I dont care

Dizz..kick the outro

You are the ebony essence

of ancestral african eloquence

spiritually affluent

among the ghetto insurgence

wash the grit out

with a jesus detergent

gotta say you are clairvoyance

kept me outta ignorance

taught me 2 ignore petty nuisance

when we are low on finance

you would rather stay home

and slow dance

never looked at me askance

when I was a street corner conductor

you gave me a chance

now we ridin the 3rd rail

aplha female

omega male

gods blessing is upon us

love and you are synonymous

a perfect synchronicity

come on baby

 lets you and me

tie the knot as bride and groom

it is time 4 us 2 jump the broom

Yeah..Brotha Dee and dizz..my alter ego

one and the same

no fluff

no game

real love.real life..real rap

I am out..let it fade

Wed, 26 Jan 2011 15:15:00 -0800 I AM (A BLACK WOMAN) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/i-am-a-black-woman http://dgreaves.posterous.com/i-am-a-black-woman

Black_women

I am a Black Woman

the newborn universe suckled at my teat

oh

you didn't know?

why then on clear nights do the constellations

appear so vibrant and sweet

I am sleek

I am well defined

I was a consort of the spirits

before recorded Hue-Man time

I am fine

no need to gape at my beautiful behind

every time

I strut I remind

artists that I am a portrait sublime

I AM A BLACK WOMAN

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF RECORDED TIME

I HAVE FILLED MEN OF ALL RACES

WITH WONDER AND SURPRISE

SHIELD YOUR EYES

AS MY BEAUTIFUL BLACKNESS

ECLIPSES THE SUNRISE

I am a Black Woman

The Mother of the First Land

come closer baby

feel my hands

the calluses and bruises

I change the diaper of Neptune

when Venus refuses

I determined my Black Man's glorious fate

and asked for no reward

I was raped

as my King was lead away in shackles and chains

and still I remain

a queen

the quintessence

the essence

of the Dream

I AM A BLACK WOMAN

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF RECORDED TIME

I HAVE FILLED MEN OF ALL RACES

WITH WONDER AND SURPRISE

SHIELD YOUR EYES

AS MY BEAUTIFUL BLACKNESS

ECLIPSES THE SUNRISE

I am a Black Woman

I Sojourned for the Truth

I am Coretta Scott King

Myrlie Evers

and Betty Shabazz

I didn't attend child birth classes

or practice lamaze

I had my babies right out there

in the cotton and cane fields

come closer baby

look at my beautiful yield

I am the backbone of my Mother Earth

I am so priceless

I am beyond worth

and still I scrubbed white women's floors

performed their mundane chores

healed their white babies sores

was forced to give in

when

they could not take their white men's sexual abuse anymore

and still

I

like an aged wine

am robust

sensual

pleasing to the palate

and so DAMN fine

I AM A BLACK WOMAN

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF RECORDED TIME

I HAVE FILLED MEN OF ALL RACES

WITH WONDER AND SURPRISE

SHIELD YOUR EYES

AS MY BEAUTIFUL BLACKNESS

ECLIPSES THE SUNRISE

I am a Black Woman

I don't have an attitude

I AM attitude

not trying to boast

or be rude

but I am the Creator's most perfect gift

with the fluttering of an eyelash

I can heal

or create a rift

I can shift

from a ghetto princess

to a White House Queen

no need for me to dare

I AM THE DREAM

hell

I am sexy even when I breathe

I don't hope

I achieve

I give my man reason to believe

and Lord knows

when the sons I sire

violently expire

I grieve

but,

I pick myself up

and start the new day fresh

for, I am a Black Woman

I AM THE BEST

I AM A BLACK WOMAN

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF RECORDED TIME

I HAVE FILLED MEN OF ALL RACES

WITH WONDER AND SURPRISE

SHIELD YOUR EYES

AS MY BEAUTIFUL BLACKNESS

ECLIPSES THE SUNRISE

Pentagram

Coming in peace

he will come correct

it won't seem possible

when he fools the elect

baptism

in elitism

through the prism

we will mistake

thinkin we're makin lovin

while the evil consumates

Master Scribes

wanna transcribe

the signs

but they're afraid

shed no tears 4 me

I'm a bitch Nigga born from a jackal's belly

my bed is made

I ignored the SS

Goering and Hess

marching in Hitler's Nazi parade

was consuming

 mushrooms

during the Cain Nanash

son of the serpent

bold and brave

Able-ly killed my brother

on the Eve of the Wailing grave

I AND I

2 GOD I REPENT

I'VE BEEN SENT

2 PREVENT

THE RISING

Triple six

salt lick

at Sodom and Gomorrah

the Bible burns in my hands

my adrenal gland

scorches the Koran and Torah

he will be a counterfeit looking like

the genuine light

while 5 million dollar holy houses

rise through the night

everybody will act prim, proper and polite

but ingnorance ain't bliss

when the hiss

becomes a venomous bite

He's my father

so I'm hip 2 his masquarade

on a mission 2 stop his movement

before my light fades

2 God, I and I

I've constantly prayed

the temptation of the Christ was 40

my punishment is 80 days

all around the world

conspiracy theorists are searching for Apocalyptic signs

but he's my father

I know him

so vengeance will be mine

 I AND I

2 GOD I REPENT

I'VE BEEN SENT

2 PREVENT

THE RISING

He will appeal 2 your highest aspiration

reveal

the final seal

with a R.S.V.P. invitation

Utopian ideals in idyllic surroundings

preaching the good word

while body counts are mounting

he left weapons automatic

in abandoned trains

use Crips and Bloods

drug cartels

as well

2 perfect his aim

he's not trying 2 possess your body

he will confuse your brain

leave you physically Able

but mentally lame

no sugar

just Cain

syrup

adjusting the stirrups

while he flies on a beast with wings

attack

your Zodiac

until you bow and kiss his pentagrammic ring

you will believe you're praising the Light

but will be whispering in the dark

then capsized

by the tide

of the man with the mark

who I am

2 some will come as a suprise

my epitah will read

Dee came

he saw

he died

trying 2 alert the true believers

and prevent his father's rise

I AND I

2 GOD I REPENT

I'VE BEEN SENT

2 PREVENT

THE RISING

love story

spannin centuries

3,000 years before the Christ

she taught PERFECT LOVE, BROTHERHOOD AND TRUTH

was a way of life

2,000 years before the Prophet Muhammad(PBUHN)

she taught the DOCTRINE OF ONE GOD

paved the way 4 three faiths 2 spread from

the Congo River 2 Islamabad

3,000 years before Darwin

she taught ALL LIVING BEINGS ARE IN PERFECT UNITY

who she be

THE QUEEN of the BLACK DYNASTY

TIMBUKTU, EYE SEE YOU

RED, YELLOW AND GREEN..NAH MEAN

Timbuktu is a city in the TOMBOUCTOU REGION in the West African nation of MALI.

It was made prosperous by the 10th MANSA of the MALI EMPIRE, MANSA MUSA and was

an intellectual and spiritual capital and the CENTER 4 THE PROPAGATION OF ISLAM

throughout Africa

Tue, 18 Jan 2011 09:05:00 -0800 WE REFUSE 2 BE http://dgreaves.posterous.com/we-refuse-2-be http://dgreaves.posterous.com/we-refuse-2-be

How we came 2 be

I, interested in the love of you

your lovers curiosity

Utopia by love's demand

saturated by untruths

manipulated by a manic man

Hurt can never intensify

unless tears remain falling

from a lover's eyes

caught in a tempest

who can deny

the bridges burned

when love begins 2 cry

Simple 2 those who perceive

a love once full of life

now hopelessly bereaved

what I intended 2 be

perceptions from a mind once profound

now mired in webs of insanity

MIRRORS OF CONFLICTED SOULS

REVEAL IMAGES WE REFUSE 2 SEE

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN

WHO WE REFUSE 2 BE

Mornings we forsake

such is love's fate

when Houses of the Holy

are built on land prone 2 quakes

exasperation

4 goodness sake

wish I could give you more

but fate

left nothing 2 take

Over rainbows we once wished

ignoring the downpours

from demonic outpours

our pores

now resist

the morning mist

Tears drying before

they caress our faces

love torn by jealousy

and other petty

disgraces

MIRRORS OF CONFLICTED SOULS

REVEAL IMAGES WE REFUSE 2 SEE

WHAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN

WHO WE REFUSE 2 BE

Taught 2 learn life's lessons well

fully prepared 4 the inevitable burns

when escaping our personal hell

blisters begin 2 swell

no one there 2 soothe our pain

2 ashamed 2 tell

I'll see you

on the dark side of the moon

hopefully

our communication will one day resume

roses once in bloom

now shredded and left 2 die

by the dog days of an August afternoon

MIRRORS OF CONFLICTED SOULS

REVEAL IMAGES WE REFUSE 2 SEE

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN

WHO WE REFUSE 2 BE

Sweet honey dip
Hello
Don't mean 2 be a bother
But can I call U during the After Show
Seems my inspiration
Is kinda low
And hearing your sultry voice
Helps my flow

Sweet honey dip
Don't ya ever change
U got 2 know
You drivin poor little Dee insane
Just remembering the times
When the rhythm of your moondance
Was in perfect sync with mine

There are no rumors 2 dispell
Only 2 people know I dig ya sweet baby
Myself and my sister Jell
And she ain't tellin
U see baby
Like a natural felon
You stole my heart
Repaired the damage
When my ex ripped it all apart
So
With all due respect
May our dance start
By me sayin

Sweet honey dip
Hello
People can hear it in my voice
When I'm feeling the flow
But they don't know
U inspire me
2 reach higher can't U see
Once my situation was dire
Like a kitten stuck high in a tree
But then you came 2 me
Tenderly
Vividly
I can see
4ever you will be
My one and only
Sweet baby
My one and only
Sweet lady
No if's and or maybe
And it all started with a

Sweet honey dip
Hello
Can U stop around
After the After Show
'Cuz when all those fierce poets
End their recites
I feel so full of fire

Thu, 13 Jan 2011 23:31:00 -0800 THE SOUL OF A BLACK MAN http://dgreaves.posterous.com/the-soul-of-a-black-man http://dgreaves.posterous.com/the-soul-of-a-black-man

I don't sweat my past
Unless U bludgeon me with yours
I don't care if the score
Is four
Or
Landing against my will
On a foreign shore

I don't sweat the hit list
I was deemed a terroroist
Before the word was defined
Nat Turner's rebellion
Killed me and mine
Multiple times

I don't seek a copyright on corruption
A patent on pain
What is the gain
If I'm running in place
All that does is help you
Focus your aim

I don't sing Negro spirituals
And celebrate Martin Luther King
'Cuz I dig hearing the disenfranchised
The wretched
The despised
Plaintive wails when they sing
I am a man
My birth from the earth
An earthling

I don't concede
So what you think is sociological greed
Is actually a refusal 2 bleed
I've been Crippin
My Blood before the Bible was written
If I'm shy it's only because for your love
I've been twice bitten

So you hear my screams
And while you sleep peacefully
I have nightmares when I dream
U represent the stripes
But I am the seam
The glue
Without me
Old Glory
Is gory
Through and through

So you hear my diatribe
And say black man is at it again
But let's not pretend
Never did I intend
2 win
I just refuse 2 be defeated
I kill mine
It's on page 46
Next 2 Garfield, Charlie Brown and Viagra signs
Black on black crime
Sign of the times
Doesn't even register while you stand
In the Mega Million Lottery Line
And you got the nerve 2 say
What's the problem
It's 2011 everything should be fine

I don't try 2 be Tiger Woods
'Cuz the woods got a lot of trees
And I'm a strange fruit still
James Bryd Jr
Against his will
My name ain't Marcus
But I do read Garvey
Simultaneously
Tryin 2 convince my
Lady
All black men don't think like
Steve Harvey

I don't admit 2 being what I'm not
Try not 2 live in a constant state of readiness
But I swear it feels sometimes
I'm surrounded by angry cops
Not tryin 2 read my writes
Nah if I say the wrong thing
The pendulum swings
And I don't walk into my house that night

I don't deny being hyper sensitive
2 light
Man I've become
Aquainted with the night
Bet you didn't know
In city after city
Black men pray for snow
Or torrential rain
Anything to ease the pain
And catch our breath
Before we walk back into 500 murders
A year
the Answer my friend
Ain't blowin
In the wind
My tears are from
Mortal fear

So we call each other
Brother
'Cuz truth be
We
All all we have
The Million Man March
Was a salve
But even on that special day
Amidst Black Brother's peace and harmony
The government
Emptied Washington, D.C.
Why?
What makes me and mine the enemy
In the midst
Just because I sing in the key of freedom
And By Any Means Necessary raise my fist

So why when Brothers get together
All past drama fades
Is it the sacrifices we've made?
Or are we tired of being sacrificed
For the right price?
Is it the kinship we feel?
Or are we fed up with our kin's
Skin
Being peeled
On fake appeals
2 a judicial system
That want me 2 be a piston
In the engine
At least Slave Drivers didn't fake the funk
They said welcome 2
Yo..WHAT IN THE HELL
IS A HOUSE OF DETENTION
I good damn good grades in skool
I paid attention
And I still do
'Cuz I don't care whether a brotha
Is 22, 32, or 42
When black and white
Fight
Black turns 2 blue
With shades of red
Damn right I'm not afraid 2 die
But who is gonna tell my daughter
Your daddy is dead
And how did I die
Murder in the 1st, 2nd 3rd degree?
Or justifiable homicide
Did I catch it in the back by Black
Or was I taken for a ride
Did I slide
Or get blown off of my feet?
At the Compton Swap Meet?
Or in Houston
Or San Antone
Or Naw'Leans
Or the Tidewater
Or the 5 buroughs
Or the Ill a Delph
Did I respect myself ?
Did I pretend?
How did I meet my end?
And more importantly
Does my demise mean
Life can begin again?
What whould you do if
You didn't have me 2 apprehend?
Would Max security Jails exist?
Yo..
I know I can be evil me and mine
But many times
I was just mindin mine
And you couldn't resist
'Cuz how dare I
Expose American lies
And stand like John Carlos
Raisin my fist
Who gave me that right?
Look in the mirror
And see the love
You taught 2 fight
Might
Don't make me right
It' s made me
Sadly
An afterthought
Dawg I ain't gonna
Run
We brothers been on the hustle a long time
Whatever you gonna do 2 us
It's fine
But just remember
WE STAND
BACK 2 BACK
BLACK 2 BLACK MAN
Always
Alpha 2 your Omega
KIn
2
Your
Klan
How then can you ever hope 2 understand
THE
SOUL
OF
A BLACK
MAN!

Thu, 13 Jan 2011 23:27:00 -0800 THE O (topic by Rain:evil lurks in the light) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/the-o-topic-by-rainevil-lurks-in-the-light http://dgreaves.posterous.com/the-o-topic-by-rainevil-lurks-in-the-light

(Scene begins with Iago praying)

IAGO-May the heavens burst from the seams of thy universe if I, Iago, speaketh untruths 'gainst the Moor. I am but a simple man thrust into a maelstrom of intrigue and demonic vice, and yet, prepared for said intrigue am I. For, I doth listen, and hath examined lies 'twixt the Moor's speech pattern. I praythee confirm my mission for in my plot do I doth good for many. Wretched Moor! He is after all one hair's breath removed from the jungle beasts that populate his Native land. Oh the HORROR to you I am reluctant to speak! In my mares of day I see this boorish, uncooth simian tupping with a white ewe of angelic virtue. God HEAR MY ANGUISHED CRIES TO REMOVE THIS MISCREANT OF CURSED MELLANIN FROM THESE HOLY SHORES!!

(Othello enters the sacristy and smiles at Iago's benevolence)

OTHELLO-My dear, trusted Iago! I reluctantly hasten to interrupt thy sacred thoughts amidst these holy vestments. Yet, only you I can trust with mine heart. A heart that bursts from the universe like the heavens pon this most glorious day!
(Iago, his back turned to Othello smiles and thinks stupid Moor)
Ahhh Iago! But my supple and fair Desdamona! A whirlwind be she! Never hath this old Lion's loins been saturated with such passion. My kind and faithful Iago. By the gods I hath foresworn my trust to you, yet, I must warn. SPEAKETH NOT of my infactuation lest I slice thy treacherous tongue from thy mouth! For Iago, only to you and the gods do I dare reveal my unconditional love for maiden Desdamona.

(Iago rises and frowns as if concerned. Othello notices the change and speaks)

O-My Iago. What I demand troubles you so that my glorious news cannot shake thy lethargy?

I-My devotion and love to you Noble King being absloute and pure is tested this morn for, I unfortunately, bring bad tidings to thy conscience.

O-SPEAK!
(Iago remains silent)
SPEAK DAMN YOU!!!

(Iago removes from his vestment a kerchief belonging to Desdamona.Othello grabs the kerchief and inhales the scent of another man's vinegar and grabs Iago's throat with fury. Iago whispers through the hold)

I-Do not be hasty in thy fury King. It is not I whom hath befouled thy union.
(Othello releases Iago)
I am and shall remain thy servant. This item I found beneath the residence of Cassio, thy once devoted friend.
(Othello in horror falls to his knees)

O-LEAVE ME NOW! I fear my gods hath no use. I shall pray to your God for he approves of your clarity.

(Scene shift to Othello's bedchambers. Othello deep in thought and consternation as Desdamona enters)

DESDAMONA-my King! I being so full of joy in seeing you am now concerned. What hath brought about such a dour contenance?

O-perhaps all..perhaps none a'tall

D-I am confused. Such a glorious morn we shared. Is is bad tidings from home? Please Noble King! I am here for you.

O-Are thee?
(Othello hold the kerchief in the light)

D-Oh thank you Husband! I feared that I had lost such a precious momento of our love! I fear not tell you for I know it was given with love. Searched did I hither and yonder for it!
(Desdamona reaches out for the kerchief. Othello refuses to part with it)
King! Why do you not return thy love gift? What is wrong?

O-SHE WOLF!
(He slaps Desdamona)
Oh you wretched swine! I curse you virtue and the family crest of thy limpid father's loins! TRAITOR OF MINE HESART AND TRUST ARE THEE!
(Othello slaps Desdamona again. She falls to the bed in fear)

D-KING OH DEAR KING! I HATH NEVER VIOLATED OUR SACRED TRUST! I PRAY TO DIE BEFORE DOING SO! I SWEAR APON MY LIFE!!

O-YOU SWEAR! TO THE GODS!! OH YOU PRETTY VERMIN! SPEAKETH NOT AGAIN! I WARN YOU!

D-Husband..NEVER HATH I BETRAYED THEE!
(Othello pounces apon Desdamona is fury)

O-LIAR!! YOU SPEAKETH WITH TONGUE FORKED LIKE THE ASP!! REMOVE THEE I SHALL FROM THE NOBILITY OF THE LIVING
(Othello chokes Desdamona until she breathes no longer. He then cries and falls into a frightful respite. He is awakened by pounding on the bedchamber door)

O-Enter and see what evil lurks in the light of day!
(Othello's men, accompanied by Cassio enter and gasp in horror)
Cassio! Witness your she wolf in death's repose! For you a special demise I shall conceive!
(Iago is brought forth in shackles and prodded with Cassio's sword to speak)

I-Near death am I so be it. Worthless Moor I decieved your simple brain!! HAHAHAHAHA! I see my plot worked to perfection but with one tragic twist for it is you simian who should be lying there without breath. So be it. For all shall be sorted by God.

O-take him and do what you will Cassio. Leave me now alone with my wife.
(Cassio hesitates. Othello approaches him.)

O-go Dear friend go. I cannot face you in this light.
(All leave the chamber)
OH CURSED FATE!! TO THEE I BESEECH! TAKE MY SINS AND CAST THEM TO THE FALLS FOR I HATH BETRAYED THE GODS!! DEAR CASSIO I PRAY THEE FORGIVE ME FOR BELIEVING SUCH FOUL RUMOUR! DESDAMONA!! DESDAMONA WHAT HATH I DONE! I SHALL JOIN YOU IN DEATH!!!

Evil lurks in the light..

Thu, 13 Jan 2011 23:23:00 -0800 UNTITLED (none needed) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/-none-needed http://dgreaves.posterous.com/-none-needed

When love's tapestry
Is woven with threads of shame
Pin%#&@$!s of a needle
Leaves tears that forever stain
Is this really you
Or just a cruel and unusual game
Digging in the past
For any skeletons that remain

Oh, thought I heard angels cry
But it was just the thought of you
Passing by
Never stopping
With no calm 2 impart
Carrying a crown once regally worn
Now resembling
A crown of thorns

Two hearts speaking
At the very same time
A cacophony of wasted sound
Never cleansing the mind
Doubts of fairly tales
When falling asleep
Counting the last worthless evening
Ignoring the sheep

When love's majesty
Falls victim 2 a coup d etat
Is the overthrow recored in the universe
Or is it Inshallah
Pray that you'll find a reason
2 remain together still
Not remain apart
Against God's will

Oh, thought I heard
Your children crying
But they haven't said a word
I guess they remain upset
Finding solace in their solitude
Under the cellar steps

Two hearts reaching
But on different frequencies
Never learned to accept honey
Without being stung by angry bees
Like the honecomb
Once a vibrant home
Now a castle in the wastelands
Once love has flown

Written for my man Will and his estranged wife..peace and love 2 you both

Tue, 11 Jan 2011 14:24:00 -0800 BURIAL MOUNDS (a take on love) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/burial-mounds-a-take-on-love http://dgreaves.posterous.com/burial-mounds-a-take-on-love

Burial

Play it slow man..

So much you will never see
Disappearing acts
Are my specialty
Learned 2 run away from pain
And toss into the trash
Memories that remain

Fun house mirror
Reflects my smile
Always fools friends
Who don't stay 4 a while
Hush my frantic heart
When it begins 2 pound
Grown fond
Of having heartbreak around

Tears don't make a sound
When they fall
On our love's burial mound

So much you never knew
Words U thought I ignored
Indeed got through
Seen so much
My tear ducts
Are sealed
Never bothered 2 ask 4 an appeal
My final sentence
Always puntuated by a question mark
Crooked as the road I travelled
Relying on a lonely heart

The Lions seem rather bored
Or is it me
Refusing 2 believe
In things I once adored
So many times confidently
I strode 2 the plate
Once up 2 bat
Took too much time 2 deliberate
Strike
One
Two
Three
A disappearing act
Is what I've come 2 be

Come one
Come all
Laugh at Dee the clown
Ignore the echo is his heart
That still resounds

Tears don't make a sound
When they fall
On love's burial mound

..that's it..one take
Let it fade
I'm out
