Glass

Once I looked over

I saw an angel

on her shoulder

thought I just want 2 hold her

angel of love make me bolder

She walked in a meadow

of high grass

the skies

full of contrails and contrast

only true devotion can outlast

loves demise flying a flag

at  half mast

2 the angel my fate was cast

be absolved or remain aghast

leave all pain in the past

in a burial ground so vast

this lovely vision of soul and sass

I know that i am up 4 the task

4 i am looking

through the looking glass

once I looked beyond

I saw her meditating near

a mountain pond

in the month of ramadan

no need 4 stars 2 whish upon

let bygones be bygones

or surely the demon will abscond

never would I respond

like a debauched king with a harem

waving palm fronds

the angel told I have formed a bond

with a lady of culture and class

the minute that I chose

2 look through the looking glass

once I looked within

I knew love could begin

again

though he died 4 my original sin

my virtue I must defend

never will I pretend

2 be a mythological griffin

a man with a lions body

and wings of an eagle

true african kings

are forever regal

so few people

will walk through the needle

many will return

2 live the sequel

but i know as I prepare 2 fast

my time in hell is at an end at last

4 I saw her waving to me

when I looked through  the looking glass

Fri, 11 Feb 2011 06:12:00 -0800 EVENING NEWS (erotic freedom) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/evening-news-erotic-freedom http://dgreaves.posterous.com/evening-news-erotic-freedom

News

She remembered when she was 17

with Roberto at Walkers Cay

as he spread the blanket

for they

2 lay

her family enjoyed the sun

down on Abaco Bay

With one eye on her future

and another on an hourglass of falling sand

she lost her initial trepidation

in Robertos experienced hands

So with the song of songs

gently playing in her mind

while Shakespeares Venus and Adonis

was recited by the Philly muse

she lost her virginity

before the evening news

So small the island

would  become

a commune of artists

consumed with passion

controlled by her fickle fate

she bid her family a fond adieu

and boarded a plane 4 the United States

bright lights  and big city dreams

never have time 2 fade

if one can sieze the time

and make love 2 life

when all but your heart has forbade

So attentive men would be 2 her

she had a smile 4 every willing heart

so adept she was a leaving tantalizing morsels

thus igniting a hopeful spark

Yet so immersed was she

enjoying a slice of life

from a big apple enjoyed by few

she would leave men

confessing in church pews

before the evening news

A chinese symbol tattoed

on her right breast

lovers would inquire what does it mean

she would smile

in the  seductive way she perfected

and answer it means

that I am a queen

In actuality

the symbol meant in life

liberation one must represent

and any moment in time

lost in lust

is time well spent

Men would flock 2 her garden

day and night

never one

yes always two

and be lost in her feminine wiles

before the evening news

Her secret was the way

she would lick her lips

and the natural sway of her lovely hips

she would utter a commet meant 2 tease

and say sweetly pardon me

that was a freudian slip

Men would interpret

these sudective quips

as finally

an opportunity

sadly

so many were left

bereft

of sense  and sensibilities

So with a gardenia in her lovely hair

she would stroll ole times square

and pause 2 enjoy the sidewalk muse

and be making love

in the skyscrapers above

before the evening news

Blame not the woman

who is sexually liberated

but the fool man

who is mentally satiated

who thinks he is conducting  a symphony

yet in actuality

his erotic intensity

is being carefully orchestrated

For if a woman

knows what she desires

and is aware of her wants and needs

far be it 4 she

2 care when a mans heart bleeds

Her professor friend

read erotic poems

from straton of saris

and as he  would peer into her lovely eyes

he would imagine her naked body

in the mews

making love under a canopy

of tress

before the evening news

Essays on man

fail 2 define

a fortunate moment

and forgotten time

thinking he has bitten the fruits of love

yet left with pits

and lemon rind

And when she would cross perfectly shaped legs

wrapped in black stockings

it was a matter of time before

clothes were flung

and there she would be

admiring the well hung

providing electrical sparks

in a mans heart

with her  versatile tongue

He would wake up

dreaming of breakfast in bed

with his dream lover by his side

yet like the ebb tide

she would choose

2 be lost in his memories

before the evening news

Wed, 09 Feb 2011 08:00:00 -0800 IN DEFENSE OF http://dgreaves.posterous.com/in-defense-of http://dgreaves.posterous.com/in-defense-of

Mancry

Racoon eyes

stare mystified

while we conform to so called facts

actually based on tactless exaggerations

our fragile detente destroyed

by the purity of emotions

that burst through an earthen dam

burying our idyllic Sunday morning

in a torrent of contamination

the truth has become a by-product

of man's musguided attempt to control the nature of man

the truth is a paradox

the truth is akin to a prostitute propostitioning a preacher

the truth

once digested devolves into the waste that we expel

for somehwere buried deeply within the soul of man

is a mechanism of doubt

a doubt that sanitizes the truth

and transforms concepts into absolute fact

justice

impartiality

propriety

fairness

our history is littered with these and other implausible denials

how then can we be in defense of truth

when justice is defined by men in Gothic rooms

appointed by a populace

that befriends the truth

only when the shadow of doubt

falls upon an adversary

you are wrong

I am right

yet what is right when wrongs are committed

in defense of the truth

when lies are rechirstened as rebuttals

when the scales of justice are not meant to weigh sincerity

but rather

resemble the venomous vipers of vanity

under such torrential acidic rains

detente will falter

and the levee will break under the downpour of a factious society

and as racoon eyes

cry with the mascara of civility

we commit atrocities in defense of the truth

surely somewhere in this vast universe

there are a people who understood the concepts of truth

for what is truth if not inextricably linked to

love

and what is love if it cannot be diefined

by the truth of our soul's intent

yes, I do believe somewhere out there

are God's children

the Chosen Ones

while we sit in judgement as children of a lesser god

a demonic force that demands being right

over being righteous

so intent are we to be victorious that we ignore

the torrential downpour

as it falls on us all

thus we drown together

liked forever

by fact and fiction

by truth and perceptions of truth

by aquitttal and conviction

by the promise of life

and the certainty of death

all the while vainly attempting to form closing agruements

in the defense of a truth

we have long ago stained with the concepts of our doubts

Tue, 08 Feb 2011 13:51:00 -0800 LUNAR ORBIT (the real rap) http://dgreaves.posterous.com/lunar-orbit-the-real-rap http://dgreaves.posterous.com/lunar-orbit-the-real-rap

Hurt

I've dedicated writes 2 Black Pride, love-real and imagined, parents, brotherhood and sisterly affection. This one is special though. It's for all of y'all who hide your hurt with a smile.

Once upon a time

can become never upon an ever

it can't get any worse

really means it won't get better

holding on 2 what's lost

the cost

can't be contained

it's a drain

on your emotions

devotion

heart and brain

the same ole same

really means the game don't change

the past is prologue

only the present can be rearranged

by you

YES YOU

love lost is like a flu

that never leaves

every time you peep his or her picture

your chest starts 2 heave

and you grieve

even family members lost

can't really compare

because love is a gamble

and you lost the dare

but beware

of making snap decisions

a little frost in the morning

don't mean you abort the mission

WHEN YOU CAN'T WISH UPON A STAR

AND MISTAKES LEAVE NO ROOM

ASK YOURSELF

IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH THRUST

2 ESCAPE GRAVITATIONAL DISTRUST

AND ORBIT THE MOON

only you really know

years after years

the same tears you shed

started out making intense love

now you sleep isolated in different beds

the strange thing is it feels liberating

you'd rather be alone

with your cell phone

6G, lookin at dizzicks mastrubating

Ladies, don't you be fooled

a hurt dude flick mo bic

than a young boy just outta skool

straight hurting

squirting

in a tissue

'cuz he miss you

and other femmes games he don't wanna play

when it comes 2 love

woman or man

it's black and white no gray

so don't say

he's out there gettin his groove on

men are varied as our manhood

word is born

some of us are large

some rather small

some think they're a womans greatest gift

some ain't stiff

but NOT ONE can heal the rift

when love ain't making love

WHEN YOU CAN'T WISH UPON A STAR

AND MISTAKES LEAVE NO ROOM

ASK YOURSELF

IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH THRUST

2 ESCAPE GRAVITATIONAL DISTRUST

AND ORBIT THE MOON

only you really know

I heard so many brothas say I love her

but I don't trust her

man it's a package deal

trust

is a must

or time will reveal

cracks in the foundation

insinuations

become predictions

intimations

become accurate descriptions

ain't no prescription

4 what ails a heart

don't think full recovery can be found

in a brand new start

brotha, that little red wagon of drama

you're pulling around

talkin that blip that you're a man about town

but ain't nobody around

'cept red ants

and sycophants

and both bite

so tonight

my brother look within

only through introspection

can the bullshit games end

and life begin

Ladies

don't let me hear that ..ish bout being lonely but not alone

you know ain't nothin betta that a man you in love with

making you moan

see, if you convince the world

that you're not in pain

no one will be aware that lack of love

is making you insane

going the celibacy route

is mos def a choice

but it's dangerous

trust your inner voice

'cuz you'd be surprised how a bitch azz brotha

can make you moist

if you slippin

don't be trippin

know what you need

don't beg, bleed or plead

but please

realize the difference between wants and needs

love yourself

WHEN YOU CAN'T WISH UPON A STAR

AND MISTAKES LEAVE NO ROOM

ASK YOURSELF

IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH THRUST

2 ESCAPE GRAVITATIONAL DISTRUST

AND ORBIT THE MOON

only you really know

In summation

your presentation

should be a reflection

of your determination

be equipped 2 handle

negative situations

but

if you say that's it

I quit

you've lost

my friend

'cuz real love begins

when you learn 2 bend

ain't nobody perfect

past or present

okay, maybe one dude and he was killed

if you're a Christain you believe

4 you His blood was spilled

and 4 what?

so you could give up

on life's most precious gift

just 'cuz one fool left you beat up

backed up and left adrift

who is the captain of your damn ship

you or the one who slipped

trust, if you KNOW you're worth being loved

you will see them again

hanging with friends

speak without reservation

and in the end

they will remember

that they recieved a perfectly good gift of love

and returned it 2 sender

2 TEARS IN A BUCKET

shift your life into gear and truck it

'cuz a better day

begins when you look in the mirror

past the tears

past the years

past your fears

and see your rebirth

the return of your self-worth

trust Brotha D'ee I know

WHEN YOU CAN'T WISH UPON A STAR

AND MISTAKES LEAVE NO ROOM

ASK YOURSELF

IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH THRUST

2 ESCAPE GRAVITATIONAL DISTRUST

AND ORBIT THE MOON

only you really know

I have confidence in you

the question is....do you believe in you

peace and blessings
