    RIGHT BACK (DOWN TO EARTH)

    Earth

    Looking out

    over the horizon,

wondering what's going on over there,

    I want to shout,

    that's not surprising,

but I don't have the breath to spare

    Thinking about,

    all the times I've faltered,

so many dark shadows you and I passed through,

    taking alternate routes,

    to your altar,

finding all roads to paradise lead back to only you

    Standing out,

    No, not really,

it's your presence that defines who I am,

    I don't have the clout,

when my coldness leaves you feeling chilly,

aimless hearts can't make love demands

    Not when you smile,

    for a while,

and then the smile turns into a frown,

    not when you laugh,

    about the past,

and my past prologue shoots the future

    down

    to earth

    right back down to earth

    Looking out,

    forecasting the future,

partly cloudy with the threat of rain,

run my fingers, down my sutures

no one but myself to blame

    Thinking about,

    my words without thought,

smart at times, yet I remain so unaware,

    leaving doubts,

    always falling behind,

I know you're tired of truth or consequences,

    do or dares

    Standing out,

    for the wrong reasons,

two steps behind for every step ahead,

    weeds start to sprout,

    watered by treason,

you can't detect the scent of love

if the seeds I've sown are already dead

    I remember,

    your smile for a while,

and then your smile became a frown,

    I remember your laugh,

    then my wrath

    shot our love back down

    to earth,

    right back down to earth

    I was,

    SCHEMING,

    STREAMING,

    DAY DREAMING,

    OF DEMONS,

    DOWN STREAM,

    FROM A LOVE THEME,

    MOON BEAMS,

    AND WHIPPED CREAM,

    CAN'T BE REDEEMING,

    NOT WHEN MY EXTREMES,

    AFFECT YOUR SELF-ESTEEM,

    MY PERSONAL INTIFADA SLOWLY TOPPLING

    OUR REGIME,

    MY RAGE AND PAIN

    DOUBLE-TEAMING,

    YOU AND THE SUPREME,

    LOVE TRIPPING

    ON A BLALANCE BEAM,

    SLIPPING

    INTO DARKNESS, ONCE A FRIEND,

    NOW A FIEND,

    DRAINING THE BLOOD STREAM,

    OF OUR ONCE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

    And, that's why I'm always

    LOOKING OUT, over the horizon,

    THINKING ABOUT, my many uprisings,

one truth STANDING OUT, not surprising,

a love endorsed by Sacred birth,

    I've shot back down

    to earth,

    right back down to earth
