we see her
reaching out to us
with a delicate hand
amidst the earthquake devistation
in japan
crying with her last breaths
momma i need you to hold
a victim of a disaster unforetold
nuclear reactors exploding
adding to a tragic situation
in a country that remembers
hiroshima and nagasaki
and the after affects of nuclear radiation
angels of mercy sing
please dont die
please dont die
we are
reaching out to you
we see him
wandering about the rubble
trying to make sense
of why the creator allowed
an entire family to die in port au prince
his lips parched as he looks water to quench
his thirst
quietly reciting biblical verse
revelation 14
slowly giving up hope
as he surveys the scene
angels of mecry sing
please dont give up
please dont give up
we are
reaching out to you
we see her
walking around with a smile
that hides tears that stain
for though she has moved far away
memories of that hurricane
remain
she was raised to never question the father
he has a purpose i suppose
her memories so vivid
as the flood water rose
in her dreams
she hums do you know what it means
to miss new orleans
angels of mercy sing
please dont hurt
please dont hurt
we are
reaching out to you
we see him
remembering the port authority
members of the fraternal order
firefighters and the innocent victims
that september day in nyc
as towers fell due to a man made tragedy
he recalls with a smile his younger brother
always following him around
both becoming firemen
but never will he forget the sound
of his mother crying why oh why
did my son and so many other have 2 die
angels of mercy sing
please dont cry
please dont cry
we are
reaching out to you
we see her
strugging to survive
her first day of life
an unfolding tragedy gripping
a man and his wife
she and i in the hospital
remembering the gospel hymns we sung
while our daughter loses her life
to failing kidneys and lungs
family saying you can have more children
you are both young
time doesnt heal but one comes
to grips with the pain
the memory of our dear kelsey remains
as angels sing
she is with the father
she is with the father
and her tiny hand
will always be
reaching out to you
i dedicate this to those lost in natural and man made
disasters
despite our religious affiliations
sexual persuasion
and racial identity
we are one
on this the 3rd stone from the sun
also i dedicate this to my daughter
kelsey greaves
little one though your mother and i
will be forever apart
with you we will always share one love
one heart
peace and blessings to
all who believe in love.
