I remember your voice so filled with hope
Dee, I'm gonna beat this Monster again
snatch back my pride and find a groove
and ride on the rhythm of the wind
but winds of change came from the East
giving plenty of time
4 the Beast 2 Feast
soon you were falling 2 the ground
I can only imagine how a lost spirit sounds
when it falls
out of favor
with the Savior
Always told me you believed in God
now your heart is broken
by the wayward roads you've trod
I wonder if the love in your smile
has been replaced by hatred and scorn
been beneath the underdog
since the day you were born
Your Daddy left when you were young
Momma wasn't watchin when you
embraced the streets
I remember a Queen tall and fine
replaced by a stranger with rags
on her feet
Every man you met had the name John
didn't care how you were looked upon
all you desired was a ride
on a high
you could savor
I wonder if that's when you began
falling out of favor
with the Savior
Took a ride
down 2 Village Ghetto land
with Jesus by my side
and a gun in my hand
I love my God with all my heart
but the Hood ain't neva take much of a spark
Brothers walking round with gasoline cans
shoot first, ask questions after they shoot a man
Don't take much guessin
I know where you are
in the back room
above Tommy's Bar
Tommy knows all about the evil side
of me and my kin
won't have much a problem
getting in
Gonna take a broom
and sweep up your mess
force you down on your knees
beside me so you can confess
why you fell 2 Hell
and out of favor
with the Savior
