    MANIFEST DESTINY

    Destiny

BROTHER D'EE, I DON'T THINK THEY LISTENIN DAWG!

TELL 'EM HOW YOU REALLY FEEL!

    I MANIFEST

    my DESTINY

    to be among the best

    no bronze, no silver

    only gold

    on my chest

    take words and

    wrest

    what I digest

    recite

    with the speed of light

    when I depress

    my diaphragm

    I AM A BLACK MAN

    I ain't here to laugh

    ain't here to please ya

like a stone cutter at Giza

    my words are pyramids

    my metaphors freeze ya

    a trend setter

    none better

    when my diction

    pays homage to the fruit

    of the African Nation

    everybody gather around

    and take dictation

    by the time I complete

    my summation

    you'll know why I'm literate

    quite considerate

    with my alliterations

    From behind a black rock

    a flock

    of blackbrids

    emerged

    gave a black boy

    a block

    of black words

    a black list

    a black fist

    for my black glove

    black to the bone

    no one above

    but the Creator

    the Telestrator

    of my Lyrical fader

a light emerged from my black saber

    blacken

    those slackin'

    'cuz I'm Dark Vader

    When push comes to shove

    won't let ya sub me

don't hate me 'cuz I'm black and beautiful

ya might as well love me

    from Timbuktu and Mali

    shot with a volley

    of Black History

    Imhotep

    much respect

    I'm hip to ancestry

    Black toppin

    no stoppin

    when I hit the blacktop

    hold up

    STOP

    DROP

    ya better roll over

    the flame

    in my game

    comes from Jehovah

    Shaka Zulu

    you with my voodoo

    Original African religion

    so prescient

    when I present

    my black precision

    my brain

    inflames

    creating nuclear fission

    BEFORE THE MAYFLOWER

    is my mission

    the words of Malcolm

    "X" marks the spot

    his words I trust

WE DIDN'T LAND ON PLYMOUTH ROCK

    IT LANDED ON US

    I bust a black cap

when I shoot my black rap

adverbs and adlibs with a subtle poise

    synthesize

    the Black Prize

    like Dr. DuBois

Momma always said I was a fire starter

    Love Booker T.

    and George Washington Carver

    flap a wrap

    around a word

    make it black, not sullen

    I'm a Harlem Renaissance

    like Countee Cullen

    so

    IF WE MUST DIE

    it won't be today

    Brother D'ee spyttin this rip

    like I'm Claude McKay

    Now ya listenin'

    I got ya shook

    lemme smooth into a segue

    like Gwendolyn Brooks

    then, when I bend

a phrase, make it sick with the flu

    STILL I RISE

    like Mya Angelou

    patrol the waters

all you see is my black fin

    stackin' mo' blackness

    'cuz my back don't bend

to not realize your potential is a sin

never wanted to play the game

    my aim

    is to win

    the History of Black America

    I will defend

    let my black soul

fly back to where I begin

    Come here

lemme whisper to you Mamma San

let me tell you about a land

    named Akebulan

    the Cross and the Crescent

    both Omnipresent

    that's why Brother D'ee

    is so effervescent

    from pestilence

    to PRESIDENT

    we represent

    the devil's scent

    we circumvent

take leftovers and sweeten them to black taste

    white hands

    can't blackmail

if we believe in the black race

    BLACK SNAKES, WHITE SNAKES

    THEY BOTH BITE

    Thurgood Marshall

    was sho nuff right

    but

    my antonyms

    work like anti-venom

    antiquate

    any snake

    with my referendum

    kill 'em

    send 'em

    back to the Garden

    excuse me Satan

    I beg your pardon

    you best believe

this is the Dawning of Blackness

    not the Eve

    I get my one-two's

    from Langston Hughes

    when I cruise the Causeway

    use a black map

    of black facts

    to find my way

    My black body

    like a Rotty

    yo Scotty

    beam me up

    lemme show Uranus

    which way is up

    extrapolate your black head

    from your butt

    my mellow

    stiletto

    I sharpen to cut

    through the absurdity

    and all the myths

    Rambunctious with my riff

    this is MY gift

    sift

    through the grams

    of my Carribean sand

    trace my history

    to a strong black man

    from the Sudan

for him I shout from my diaphragm

    HATERS, DEBATERS

    YOU ALL SCRAM

    to deny my crown

    is a sham

    Tell me,

WHY DOES THE CAGED BIRD SING

    because

    I HAVE A DREAM

    like Dr.King

    completing the verse

    a 360 cycle

    rep Huey P.

    and Stokley Carmichael

    Say "what up" to Bobby

    when I Seale

    guilty as charged America

    no appeal

    the sweeter the juice

    the blacker the berry

WE RESERVE OUR RIGHT TO BE A MAN

    what you say Malcolm?

    BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY

    can you hear me now?

    It's like this Fam

    I have a blackjack

    and I will rap

    the black head

    of any black cat

    wearing black face

I REFUSE TO BE A DISGRACE

    TO MY BLACK RACE

    so

head these words that erupted from my chest

    because

    I, BROTHER D'EE

    MANIFEST

    MY

    DESTINY
