How glad I am
2 be with you again
delivered 2 a place
where love shall never end
yes, my words shall never die
I now stand in the battlefields
and proudly testify
and
as trembling itself entered unto me
and shuddering covers me
HOW GLAD I AM
You are my Friend
yes, I stand when so many fell
all stereotypes and slights
my intellect, passion and pride
can now dispell
my faith rewarded
the Truth I clearly see
when my reality distorted
In a fear inspiring way we are wonderfully made
2 deny the temptations God forbade
oh, HOW GLAD I AM
You are my Friend
yes, let the Rampart's glare silhouette the night
I stand and fight
marching with You in faith
my Eternal Light
I now sing songs of Praise
I, as a Black Man
PROUDLY stand
from the bottomless pit I was raised
2 ensure nothing will cause pain, mourning or death
in the coming earthly Paradise
though battererd and weary
I shall continue 2 fight
4, HOW GLAD I AM
You are my Friend
yes, when all laughed and mocked my name
You cleansed my evil intentions
and eased my mental strain
I know smile in the face of deceivers
shouting LOOK AT ME
kool posin PROUDLY
remaining a believer
You, so tender in affection and Merciful
the Blessings I receive so plentiful
HOW GLAD I AM
You are my Friend
yes, I thank You 4 Your Protection
4 Your Unconditional Love
4 my resurrection
4 never letting me go
when winds of turmoil shifted
and hatred started 2 blow
2 not expect perfection in myself and others
knowing in Faith I walk with my Sisters and Brothers
My Lord Jesus Christ
HOW GLAD I AM
You are my Friend
AMEN
