EBONY BEAUTY (FOR MY DARK SKIN SISTERS)

    i rejoiced

as i raised my head to gaze upon

    a beauty seldom seen

    only in my dreams

    comets slow to admire

your beauty and then they cry

    forming ice crystals

    as they lovingly sigh

leaving tales of your  ethereal beauty

    throughout the vastness of space

    as the supreme smiles

    within your tender embrace

    the saharan winds speak

    to the date palm trees

    as  african american men

    fall to their knees

    all hail the african queen

your skin so dark and lustrious

    so agleam

    religions have been created

    in your name

    an annex of the heavens

    is your private domain

    yet still you remain

    humble and dedicated to all

    the supreme proclaims

    flames reaching ever so high

    as upon a pyre

    your followers burn

    stereotypes wrapped within

    enigmatic lies

    for you were the first

    the mother of all children

    on this restless earth

    my ebony beauty

    you possess a radiance

    that shines from the light

    of infant stars

    when venus consumated her union

    with mars

    my ebony beauty

the intensity of your light  within

    glows upon your skin

    a rich and deep melanin

from which the light of the world begins

    your beautiful face

beams with joy as you walk

with the great spirit hand in hand

    for he has entrusted you

    with mankinds eternal plan

    so poised you are

    so very grand

    your abundant harvest

    dispersed among seven tribes

    and we pay homage

    to your dignity and pride

    within your love i pray

    to one day reside

when the earth embraces the moon

for all time songs of praise

    have celebrated your wonderful hue

    many women are beautiful

    yet so very few

can match the wonder of your complexion

    with you in my life

    a spiritual fredom has begun

    sacral music plays

    at your ceremony

as we the lost children of

    uganda

    kenya

    tanzania

    zimbabwe

    the congo and burundi

    hail your magesty

    with engoma drums

    double bells  and shakaree

    my ebony beauty

thank you for being so loving

    so kind

with a love that i find

no one but you can give

    my ebony beauty

    never again shall you sit

    in darkness and question thyself

for the impact of your  beauty

    continues to be felt

    in heaven and earth

    and every dedicated verse

    my ebony beauty

    stay with me

    my ebony beauty

    you are free

    to be beautiful

    as you are

    Bw

dedicated to  my darker hued sisters

    and also to candace

who asked and inspired me to

apply my modest talents to such

    a worthy and profound subject

    my ladies..candace

you are all so very beautiful

    peace and absolute love

    today

    tomorrow

    forever  and beyond
