    DOO-WOP MEMORIES

    We sang Doo-Wop
On the corner of 46th and Chesnut Street
    Right behind American Bandstand
    After skool we would meet
    We always hoped that maybe
    Dick Clark would walk by
    And listen 2 us singing
Our voices reaching n2 the Skyyyyy

Like Little Anthony and the Imperials
We were On the Outside Looking In
So many gang wars in Philly
So I stuck with my friends
    No one would stress us
    2 join the local gang
    Cuz the Leader
    A cat named Wishbone
    Dug the way we Sang

    We'd get an old can
Start a fire 2 warm our feet and hands
    Waitin 4 the ladies
At least, that was the plan
    Every day the cops
Would slow as they rode by
    Listenin 2 us Doo-Wop
    And wave a silent goodbye

    Our Mommas didn't worry
    They knew we were fine
We knew our place in society
    Back in 1959
When the white girls walked by
    Headin 2 the Bandstand studio
They'd smile and stop 2 listen
But we'd act like we didn't know

We sang Harvey and the Moonglows
    Frankie Lymon and the rest
    No doubt in our minds
We knew we were the best
    Jimmy didn't sing
He had a purpose I suppose
    Everytime our throats got scratchy
We'd sip on his Wild Irish Rose

    Pluto sang falsetto
    He passed in 1997
    He and Bottom Hammer
    Are harmonizing in Heaven
The rest of us don't much get together
    Age catches up suddenly
    But we'll always have 1959
    And our Doo-Wop memories...

As I..walk thru this world, nuthin can stop
    The Duke of Earl..

Took a walk and passed your house
Late last nite..and the shades were pulled and drawn
    Way down tight

I did you wrong, my heart went out 2 play
But in the game I lost you
    What a price 2 payyyy..I'm cryin
    Oooooo...Baby Baby

So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer it's easy 2 trace
    The Tracks of My Tears

I know you wanna leave me
But I refuse 2 let you go

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
    When it's cold outside
I've got the month of May
    Wellll
    I guess
    You say
What can make me feel this way
    My Girl!
