COUNTDOWN TO NEVER AGAIN (for Jillian)

Hmmm...what am I forgetting? I have traipsed through Andean Hills with Brenda the Beloved...shared threads of love lyrics with Mel..
    Ahhh...yes! Jell!
    Here we go...

    Jillian
    My lovely friend
It seems we have come to an end
Time for us to go our separate ways
Such a melancholy my heart feels
    I can't believe it's real
    Our Countdown to Never again
    Ends...
    New
    Year's
    Day

    Christmas night
    Moonlight
    In Vermont
    You the Lovely Maiden
    I, the Bon Vivant
    A sleigh ride at Stowhof's
Riding the ski loft above the trees
    Clasping your hand
    Tenderly

    December 26th
    A travel day
    First class window seats
    Mournfully watching as Killington
    Fades silently away
    The Steward asks
    What will I be drinking
I smile and can't help thinking
    I've already imbibed
    In a decanter of Jill

    December 27th
    The Boathouse in Central Park
    Back in the Big Apple
Taking a bite of its vibrant heart
    Laughing merrily
As champagne bubbles tickle your nose
    Seduced by the formal gardens
And the skyscrapers in a blissful repose

    December 28th
Brunch at Tavern on the Green
    Hobnobing with the beautiful people
    Sampling the lush cuisine
    I brush a solitary tear
    From your beautiful eye
Attempt to distract you by saying
    The stuffed French Toast
    You must try
    And You smile
    Quietly you reminisce
On a last longing of a kiss

    December 29th
    A quiet dinner with
    Family and friends
    The small talk rather strained
    By the pain
    Of once inseperable lovers
In the midst of a Countdown to the End
    Oh how we travelled
    Avenues few would dare
    With only our love
    And an attiude of
    Devil may care

    December 30th
    A quiet apprehesion
    In my solitude
    Packing my belongings
As heartbreak vies for my attention
    Hearing you quietly sobbing
    As you speak to friends
Everyone in a sate of dismay
As a one of a kind love affair
    Comes to an end

    December 31st
    Arriving at the hotel
    Listening to the band rehearse
    Terrance Blanchard
    Plays on his trumpet
    Auld Lang Syne
    Should all aquaintance be forgot
    And never brought to mind
    One last hurried tryst
    In the shower mist
    For though we must part
    You remain hard to resist
    On the cusp of midnight
    Holding you tight
    Inhaling the sounds
    The sights
    Tears I refuse to fight
    Two lovers
    Once a pair
Silently from the window we stare
    As the colorful ball drops
    In Olde Times Square

    Alas, my lovely Jillian
    We are at the end
    For the New year concludes
    Our
    Countdown
    To
    Never.....

    Again
