    ALTAR FATE

    Dove

    a votive offering

    is now due

seems we knocked on heavens door

and they wouldnt let us through

    let us tell our friends

to give love offerings in lieu

    of flowers

    for at this final hour

    the pompus ones watching

    from the tower of babylon

    have siezed the power

    how many times

    has the dove flew

only to be lost in the fog

of our unconscious actions above the mew

    olive  branches dropping

    in rain starved ferns

    waiting for lighting to strike

    and peace  to burn

mistakes you and i have made

    yes a slew

    believeing in utpoian allegories

    ignoring  the gory truth

    the church bells ring

    so very few

    remain in the pews

hoping to make one final offer

    love cant refuse

    two first class tickets

    to paradise

our  bond lost in the baggade of false claims

two lonely hearts on the altar of sacrifice

with no one to rely upon

    as the church bells echo

    in the steely dawn

    supernatural  forces

    being forced to abstain

    for when love is offered

    and not truly received

    it dies in vain

    parrish priests bless

    our sacrificial remains

    as we offer confessions

upon the cross of love labours pain

    how many times

    did we spiritually abide

    praying to the christ

    while allowing the demon

    to stand by our side

how then could true love survive

when at the gates of dawn

    the pipers pallor pied

    a patchy  black and white

    with no shade of grey

the towers of babylon remain steady

    while our love steadily sways

    though  we will have angst

    and some regret

a false dawn is an illusion

    created when loves sun sets

    two lovers cast in silhouette

making promises to forget me not

yet through the passing of time

    they soon forget

    two first class tickets

    to paradise

our bond lost in the baggage of false claims

    two loney hearts

    on the altar of sacrifice

with on one to rely upon

    as church bells echo

    from the tower of babylon

    in the steely dawn
